Kim Dong-min, Bupyeong District Councilor (Democratic Party of Korea·Bupyeong 2, 5, 6-dong, Bugae 1-dong, Ilshin-dong), has declared his candidacy for the Incheon City Council in the upcoming local elections. Councilor Kim is preparing for the internal party primary as he challenges for the Bupyeong District 2 constituency.
Recently, Councilor Kim announced on his Facebook that he has completed the registration application for the qualification review of preliminary candidates for the Incheon City Council. He also formalized his challenge for the metropolitan council in a media interview.
The Bupyeong District 2 constituency, where Councilor Kim has declared his candidacy, includes Bupyeong 2-dong, Bupyeong 5-dong, Bupyeong 6-dong, Bugae 1-dong, and Ilshin-dong, and is currently represented by Yoo Kyung-hee, a councilor from the same party. This suggests that internal competition in this electoral district is inevitable.
Councilor Kim majored in economics at Howon University and has served as a local committee member of the Buhung Elementary School Operating Committee and the Youth Chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea Bupyeong Gap.
In his legislative activities, he has served as the Chairperson of the Budget and Settlement Special Committee of the Bupyeong District Council since July 2024 and is currently active as the Vice Chairperson of the Administrative Welfare Committee. He also represents the 'Bupyeong Urban Brand Research Group' as the lead councilor participating in local policy research.
With Councilor Kim's declaration of candidacy, the internal competition structure in Bupyeong District 2 is expected to intensify ahead of the local elections.
