The Incheon City Party of the Democratic Party (Chairman Ko Nam-seok) has completed the formation of the Candidate Recommendation Management Committee (CRC) ahead of the 9th nationwide local elections scheduled for June 3. The Incheon City Party announced on the 29th, "We have formed the CRC with fairness and objectivity as our top principles."

The core of this CRC is the 'operation centred on external personnel'. Former Incheon Medical Centre Director Cho Seung-yeon has been appointed as the chair. The intention is to secure the independence of the nomination process by appointing an external person without party affiliation as the chair. The vice-chair is Lee Hee-jeong, Deputy Director of the Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence Institute.

Strict adherence to party regulations was applied in the composition of the committee. The proportion of women among the total members was set at over 50%, and the proportion of youth at over 10%, while excluding former and current city party chairpersons. Participation of local committee chairs was also minimised. The Incheon City Party explained, "We included personnel from various fields such as multiculturalism, academia, the legal profession, and the cultural and arts sector to avoid bias towards specific classes or occupations."

The members of the CRC include tax accountant Kim Byeong-seob, lawyers Kim Yeon-du, Kim Hee-cheon, Yang Tae-jeong, Incheon City Party Secretary General Kim Yoon-han, President of the Korea Beauty & Colour Association Moon Chae-rin, International Director of the World Mentoring Association Lee Bon-a, President of the Incheon Nursing Association Jo Ok-yeon, Professor Han Sang-jeong from Incheon National University, along with Members of Parliament Park Seon-won and Heo Jong-sik.

The formation of this CRC is seen as an extension of the 'nomination principles' put forward by the Incheon City Party. Previously, Chairman Ko Nam-seok declared the so-called 'four no principles' in his New Year’s address, which include ▲ineligible candidates ▲unjust cut-offs ▲parachute nominations ▲and exclusion of illegal reviews.

An official from the Incheon City Party stated, "The local elections are a process of electing individuals responsible for Incheon’s administration and basic governance," adding, "We will gain trust through fair nomination management that meets the expectations of citizens."
