Member of Parliament Park Min-hyeop: "Concerns over sinkholes must focus on 'preventive measures' through smart safety management systems"

On the 2nd, Park Min-hyeop, a member of the Yeonsu District Council (People Power Party, Songdo 2, 4, 5), pointed out during the smart innovation and major business report that residents' concerns over ground subsidence (sinkhole) incidents in urban areas are rising, urging for thorough operation of a preventive system incorporating smart technology. He emphasised the importance of proactive safety inspections based on data rather than reactive measures after incidents occur.

In this business report, Park examined the budget operation method and personnel structure of the project to establish a 'smart technology-based underground safety management system'. He specifically focused on whether there are concrete guidelines in place to ensure that the hiring of specialised personnel secured through supplementary budgets and external specialised service projects do not overlap but operate complementarily.

In response to Park's inquiries, Park Jeong-su, the head of smart innovation, stated, "The personnel hired will regularly inspect areas around multi-use facilities such as bus stops and will be deployed for emergency on-site investigations in case of unexpected situations," and reported in detail that "extensive precision surveys using advanced equipment such as vehicle-mounted ground penetrating radar (GPR) will be conducted by external specialised institutions to carry out a comprehensive safety inspection network."

Park concluded his inquiries by stating, "Efficient distribution of personnel and equipment is essential to ensure resident safety without wasting the budget," and requested, "Especially, please demonstrate a model of smart safety administration that prioritises and manages vulnerable areas with a high risk of incidents, such as near old sewage pipes, based on data."
