Jung Yu-jeong, Bupyeong District Councillor (Democratic Party·Bupyeong 3-dong, Sangok 3·4-dong, Sipjeong 1·2-dong) strongly criticised the attitude of the Audit Office, which is delaying the report on the specific audit of the Bupyeong Community Self-Support Centre, and urged for transparent communication in administration.
During the Administrative Welfare Committee's work report held on the 28th, Councillor Jung stated, "The self-support centre is a place that teaches residents 'how to fish' to help them become self-sufficient, but due to the sloppy management of the centre heads, its fundamental functions have been paralysed. Despite this being a recurring issue for several years, proper administrative oversight has not been conducted, leading to this situation," she pointed out.
On that day, Councillor Jung's inquiries focused on whether the progress of the audit was being 'shared'. She asserted, "A thorough investigation was conducted during the administrative audit, and many citizens are closely watching this matter," and added, "The refusal of the interim audit report requested by the council, citing reasons such as the 'objection period', is a disregard for the council that represents the voices of the residents."
In response, the auditor maintained, "Even if a request for action is drafted and notified to the relevant institution by February 20, legally, a one-month objection period must be guaranteed," and stated, "It is procedurally difficult to disclose specific points that have not been finally confirmed in advance." This implies that specific details will only be reported after March 23.
Councillor Jung responded to this answer by saying, "In my experience with public institutions, it is extremely rare for objections to be accepted," and questioned, "Even if certain aspects are not confirmed, shouldn't they communicate closely with the council to alleviate concerns if they recognise the seriousness of the issues?"
Ultimately, Councillor Jung expressed deep regret over the Audit Office's stubborn attitude, stating, "The administration is not actively reflecting the opinions of the citizens," and warned, "I will discuss with my fellow councillors to see if there are other ways to receive the interim report," before concluding her inquiries.
