The People Power Party criticized President Lee Jae-myung on the 1st for expressing a strong will for strict real estate regulations, including the end of the tax exemption for multiple homeowners, stating, "You can't control housing prices with threats and intimidation." In contrast, the Democratic Party countered, saying, "They are politicizing the government's willingness to resolve the issue."

Choi Bo-yoon, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, commented that President Lee has concluded that illegal activities are the cause of the housing price surge and has unleashed threatening expressions aimed at homeowners, stating, "The provocative slogans that shake public opinion are very inappropriate for a president." He continued, "The fastest and most realistic solution is to revitalize private-led redevelopment and reconstruction through regulatory relaxation," asserting, "The idea of hoarding idle land while blocking the necessary solutions is no different from being satisfied with the 'real estate distribution' dictated by the government."

Representative Jang Dong-hyuk also pointed out on Facebook the day before that President Lee's remarks are contradictory. He said, "Last December, he said there were 'no measures,' but suddenly claims that 'normalizing real estate is easier than achieving a KOSPI of 5000.' Is this 'yelling economics' following 'hotel economics'?"

In response, the Democratic Party rebutted that the People Power Party is encouraging speculation. Kim Hyun-jung, the spokesperson for the Democratic Party, stated in a briefing, "The core of President Lee's message is the government's strong willingness to resolve the issue," and dismissed the People Power Party's criticism as something that would only elicit laughter from the public, saying, "It raises doubts about their basic language comprehension skills."

Spokesperson Kim criticized the regulatory relaxation claimed by the People Power Party, stating, "The result has always been speculation frenzy and the displacement of locals," and accused them of sticking to a failed past approach, ultimately intending to pave the way for speculative capital.
