Yoo Jeong-bok, Incheon Mayor, Ascends Munhak Mountain to Reaffirm 'Mabu Jeongje'... "A Year of Completing Achievements for the Eighth Elected Term"

On the 31st, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok ascended Munhak Mountain and mentioned 'Mabu Jeongje (馬不停蹄)' as the new year’s administrative theme. As the eighth elected term enters its second half, it seems to symbolically express the will to simultaneously enhance the completion of policy achievements and execution power.

At the '2026 Year of the Horse New Year’s Hike at Munhak Mountain', Mayor Yoo stated, "2026 is a very important year for completing the achievements of the eighth elected term," and added, "I will lead the administration unwaveringly with the resolve of Mabu Jeongje, which means a running horse does not stop its hooves."

The hike was attended by over 120 participants, including Mayor Yoo, Deputy Mayors Ha Byeong-pil and Shin Jae-kyung, department heads above level 3, deputy heads of districts, and executives from public corporations and investment institutions. The participants started from the hiking trail near Seonhak Station and walked together to the summit of Munhak Mountain, sharing opinions on the direction of new year’s administrative operations and inter-organizational cooperation.

At the summit of Munhak Mountain, a New Year’s resolution wishing for a greater leap for Incheon was made, along with a commitment to clean practices. A message was shared on-site stating, "We will complete citizen happiness based on integrity."

Mayor Yoo emphasized, "The changes and achievements that citizens feel must be based on the integrity of the public service," and urged, "Please always remember that integrity is the fundamental virtue of public officials and the starting point for the development of administration."

He continued, "I ask that executive officials and agencies work together with a sense of responsibility to lead Incheon’s greater leap forward."

This New Year’s hike was organized as a gathering to review the major policies pursued over the past four years of the eighth elected term and to strengthen internal cohesion for the execution power in the latter half of the administration. Observers inside and outside the city speculate that Mayor Yoo will focus administrative power on visualizing the achievements of major policies this year.
