Yoo Jeong-bok, Incheon Mayor, Ascends Munhak Mountain to Reaffirm 'Mabu Jeongje'... "A Year of Completing Achievements for the Eighth Elected Term"

On the 31st, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok ascended Munhak Mountain and mentioned 'Mabu Jeongje (馬不停蹄)' as the new year’s administrative theme. As the eighth elected term enters its second half, this symbolically reveals his determination to simultaneously enhance the completion of policy achievements and their execution.

Mayor Yoo attended the '2026 Year of the Horse New Year’s Hike at Munhak Mountain' and stated, "2026 is a very important year for completing the achievements of the eighth elected term's administration," adding, "I will lead the administration unwaveringly with the resolve of Mabu Jeongje, which means a running horse does not stop its hooves."

The hike was attended by over 120 people, including Mayor Yoo, Deputy Mayors Ha Byeong-pil and Shin Jae-kyung, heads of departments at level 3 and above, deputy heads of districts, and executives from public corporations and investment institutions. Participants started from the hiking trail near Seonhak Station and walked together to the summit of Munhak Mountain, sharing opinions on the direction of the new year’s administration and ways to cooperate between organisations.

At the summit of Munhak Mountain, a New Year’s resolution was made to wish for a greater leap for Incheon in the Year of the Horse, along with a commitment to clean practices. A message was shared at the site stating, "We will complete citizen happiness based on integrity."

At this event, Mayor Yoo emphasised, "The changes and achievements that citizens can feel must be based on the integrity of the public service," and urged everyone to always remember that integrity is the fundamental virtue of public officials and the starting point for the development of the administration.

He further requested, "I ask that senior officials and affiliated organisations work together with a sense of responsibility to lead Incheon to a greater leap forward."

This New Year’s hike was organised as a gathering to review the major policies pursued during the fourth year of the eighth elected term and to strengthen internal cohesion for the execution of the administration in the latter half. Observers inside and outside the city speculate that Mayor Yoo will focus administrative power on making the achievements of major policies visible this year.
