Jung Rak-jae, Council Member of Michuhol District, Says "Parking Lot Costing Tens of Billions Must Be Evaluated for Efficiency... Beware of Showy Administration"

Jung Rak-jae, a council member of Michuhol District (Democratic Party, Ju-an 1·2·3·4·7·8-dong), has begun a thorough examination of district projects that involve massive budgets. He particularly pointed out the efficiency of the parking lot construction project in relation to its budget and urged for practical measures centered on the field.

During the report of the Welfare and Construction Committee at the 293rd Michuhol District Council temporary session held on the 29th, Jung strongly criticized the effectiveness of the parking lot construction project for purchasing housing in Ju-an 7-dong. He questioned, "Is it really efficient to spend 3 billion won to create just 22 parking spaces? Do you think this scale will resolve the neighborhood's parking issues?"

He mentioned the difference between the current market price and the appraisal value, stating, "With land prices rising, the cost per space has skyrocketed to 150 million won, and raising the budget in an unprepared state is a project with a high possibility of being canceled."

The issue of road management, which is directly related to resident safety, was also brought to the forefront. Jung cited cases where restoration has been delayed following water supply construction conducted last November and questioned the shortcomings of construction administration.

Jung emphasized, "Is it right to leave the road in a dirty state for months under the pretext of waiting for the thaw after the construction is completed? When granting road excavation permits, we must thoroughly confirm the restoration timeline to minimize inconvenience to residents."

He also called for a long-term perspective on the issue of truck parking shortages. Jung stated, "There are no truck parking lots in Michuhol District, leading to repeated illegal parking in residential areas," and suggested, "Enforcement alone is not the solution; we must actively consider securing truck parking spaces by utilizing temporary sports facility sites and other options."

Additionally, Jung pointed out various complaints he collected directly from the field, including: ▲Immediate repair of damaged road mirrors near Subong Park ▲Measures to prevent unauthorized vehicle entry that causes damage to paving blocks ▲Transfer of efficient management responsibility for the Dohwa-dong smart shelter, prompting responses from the district office.

Jung urged, "Since all projects are funded by the taxes of residents, please exercise caution in urban planning that is difficult to change once established, considering a 100-year plan."
