Jung Rak-jae, a councillor from Michuhol-gu (Democratic Party, Ju-an 1·2·3·4·7·8-dong), has begun a thorough examination of the district's projects that involve substantial budgets. He particularly pointed out the efficiency of the parking lot construction project in relation to its budget, urging for practical measures focused on the ground.
During the 293rd Michuhol-gu Council's temporary meeting on the 29th, Councillor Jung strongly criticised the effectiveness of the parking lot construction project for purchasing housing in Ju-an 7-dong. He questioned, "Is it really efficient to spend 3 billion won to create just 22 parking spaces? Do you think this scale will resolve the parking issues in the neighbourhood?"
He mentioned the discrepancy between the market price and the appraised value, stating, "With land prices rising, the cost per space has soared to 150 million won, and raising the budget in an unprepared state poses a high risk of project cancellation."
The issue of road management, directly related to resident safety, was also brought to the forefront. Councillor Jung cited cases where restoration has been delayed following water supply construction carried out last November, questioning the shortcomings in construction administration.
He emphasised, "Is it right to leave the road in a messy state for months under the pretext of waiting for the thaw after the construction is completed? When granting excavation permits, we must thoroughly confirm the restoration timeline to minimise inconvenience to residents."
He also called for a long-term perspective on the issue of truck parking. Councillor Jung stated, "There are no truck parking facilities in Michuhol-gu, leading to repeated illegal parking in residential areas," and suggested, "It is not enough to just enforce regulations; we must actively consider securing truck parking spaces by utilising temporary sports facility sites and other options."
Additionally, Councillor Jung pointed out various issues he gathered directly from the field, including: ▲ Immediate repair of damaged road mirrors near Subong Park ▲ Measures to prevent unauthorised vehicle entry that causes damage to paving blocks ▲ Transfer of efficient management responsibility for the Dohwa-dong smart shelter, prompting responses from the district office.
Councillor Jung urged, "Since all projects are funded by the taxes of residents, please exercise caution in urban planning that is difficult to change once established, considering a long-term perspective of 100 years."
