Kim Dong-min, Bupyeong District Councillor (Democratic Party of Korea·Bupyeong 2, 5, 6-dong, Bugae 1-dong, Ilshin-dong), has declared his candidacy for Incheon City Councillor in the upcoming local elections. Councillor Kim is preparing for the party primary as he challenges for the Bupyeong 2 electoral district.

Councillor Kim recently announced on his Facebook that he has completed the document registration application for the qualification review of the Incheon City Councillor preliminary candidates. He also formalised his challenge for the metropolitan councillor position in a subsequent media interview.

The Bupyeong 2 electoral district, where Councillor Kim has declared his candidacy, includes Bupyeong 2-dong, Bupyeong 5-dong, Bupyeong 6-dong, Bugae 1-dong, and Ilshin-dong, and is currently represented by Yoo Kyung-hee, an incumbent city councillor from the same party. As a result, intra-party competition in this electoral district seems inevitable.
