Kim Byeong-gi, former Incheon city councillor, declares candidacy for Bupyeong District Mayor: "I will change Bupyeong's economic structure"

Kim Byeong-gi, a former Incheon city councillor affiliated with the Democratic Party, has officially declared his candidacy for the Bupyeong District Mayor election, which will be held on June 3. This is the first candidacy declaration among the candidates for Bupyeong District Mayor.

On the morning of the 2nd at 9:30 AM, Kim held a press conference in the briefing room of Bupyeong District Office in Incheon, stating, "As an expert in finance and public finance, I will create a new economy for Bupyeong," and added, "I will lead economic changes that residents can feel in their daily lives."

Kim, who is a finance and public finance expert having completed the Advanced Financial Management course at Seoul National University, has accumulated extensive experience in the financial field, having served as the branch manager of Kookmin Bank's Galsan branch and the chief branch manager in Guwol-dong.

In the 2018 7th nationwide local elections, he ran as a candidate for the Democratic Party and was elected as a member of the 8th Incheon City Council from the 4th electoral district of Bupyeong (Sangok 1·2-dong, Cheongcheon 1·2-dong). In the city council, he was active in the Industry and Economy Committee and the Special Committee on Budget and Settlement.

Additionally, during the 21st presidential election, he served as an economic advisor for the campaign committee of candidate Lee Jae-myung. He has also served as the secretary of the local committee for Democratic Party member Park Seon-won (Bupyeong-eul) and as the vice-chairman of the Democratic Party's Policy Committee.

On that day, Kim emphasised, "Based on the experience I have accumulated through finance, public finance, and legislative activities, I will fundamentally improve Bupyeong's economic structure," and stated, "I will revitalise the living economy and create a virtuous cycle structure for the local economy."

In particular, as a measure to revitalise the local economy, he said, "I will create an environment where local small businesses can stand again," and added, "I will significantly expand the credit guarantee contribution limit for Bupyeong District to ensure that low-interest funds are smoothly supplied to the field."
