Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Do Seong-hoon presented awards to staff members who saved precious lives with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during emergencies, expressing his gratitude.

On the 2nd, during the 'Happy Communication Meeting', the Superintendent awarded certificates to three staff members who saved a patron who suffered a cardiac arrest at the Central Library of the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education in January. The award ceremony was held in front of all staff, honouring the spirit of sacrifice shown by public officials in a critical situation.

At that time, an urgent situation arose at the Central Library when a patron suddenly collapsed due to cardiac arrest. Witnessing this, the staff immediately reported to 119 while demonstrating their emergency response skills learned during training. They swiftly used an automated external defibrillator (AED) and continued CPR, systematically securing the patient's golden time.

This commendable act gained significant attention in the community after a citizen posted a praise message on the library's website on the 24th of last month, which was later reported by the media.

During the award ceremony, the Superintendent stated, "I express my deep respect and gratitude for the courage and actions of the staff who calmly responded without panic in an unexpected crisis and saved a citizen's life."

He continued, "This case has reminded us of the importance of safety training that we usually practice," and emphasized, "I will spare no effort in strengthening related training so that all members of the Incheon education community can respond professionally in emergencies and create a safe educational environment where everyone can use it with peace of mind."
