Lee An-ho, the former chairman of Incheon Michuhol District Council, officially declared his candidacy for the Incheon Metropolitan City Council in the upcoming June 3 local election (the 9th nationwide simultaneous local election). He aims to leverage the administrative expertise he has built during his three terms as a basic council member to participate in city governance and drive local development.

The former chairman recently announced on his Facebook that he has submitted the application documents for the preliminary candidate qualification review of the Democratic Party. In his statement of candidacy, he emphasized, "I will walk step by step, steadily, and I will be a strong support for our neighbors with honesty that does not lose my original intention."

The Michuhol District's 3rd electoral district (Sungui 1·3-dong, Sungui 2·4-dong, Yonghyeon 1·4-dong, Yonghyeon 2·3-dong, Hakik 2-dong) where the former chairman is challenging is currently classified as a so-called 'vacant land' in the local political arena. This is because the incumbent Incheon City Council member Lee Bong-rak, affiliated with the People Power Party, has already announced his decision not to run in the next election and to retire from politics. As a result, there is keen interest in how the high recognition and experience of the former chairman, who is a three-term district council member, will influence the early election landscape.
