Cho Sung-hwan, Incheon City Councilor (Democratic Party, Gyeyang 1), has confirmed his candidacy for the upcoming June 3 local elections (the 9th nationwide simultaneous local elections) and is embarking on a challenge for re-election.

Councilor Cho recently announced through his Facebook that he has submitted the application documents for the Democratic Party's preliminary candidate qualification review. Councilor Cho's electoral district is Gyeyang-gu District 1 (Hyosung 1-dong, Hyosung 2-dong).

In his candidacy message, Councilor Cho emphasized that he has focused on establishing field-centered policies during his previous legislative activities. He stated, "Based on my past legislative experience, I will become a practical city councilor," and expressed his desire to work closely with citizens again, saying, "I want to work alongside the citizens with a strong sense of responsibility."

Councilor Cho entered the Incheon City Council after serving as the chair of the Autonomous City Committee in the 8th Gyeyang-gu Council. During his term in the city council, he worked as a member of the Construction and Transportation Committee and the Culture and Welfare Committee, addressing local issues.

His major career includes serving as the chair of the Crime Prevention Special Committee and the Small Business Special Committee of the Incheon City Democratic Party, the chair of the Myung-hyun Elementary School Operating Committee, and a member of the Gyeyang-gu Social Economy Promotion Committee. As incumbent Councilor Cho enters the preliminary candidate review process, the election campaign in Gyeyang-gu District 1 is expected to intensify.
