Lee Jeong-soon, the Chairman of Incheon Namdong District Council, has officially announced his candidacy for the Incheon City Council in the upcoming June 3 local elections. He aims to elevate his position and challenge for broader administrative responsibilities based on his 8 years of experience in district council activities and serving as chairman.
The chairman recently revealed on his Facebook that he has completed the document registration for the qualification review of preliminary candidates for the Incheon City Council in the June local elections. In his statement of candidacy, he defined his past 8 years of legislative activities as 'communication centered on the field' and emphasized the process of directly listening to residents' voices and finding solutions to conflicts as the core value of politics.
He stated, "The role of local politics is not to ignore conflicts or make unilateral judgments, but to respect each resident's position and seek common solutions," and emphasized, "I will prepare for the election while reflecting on the mindset I had when I first started in politics."
The chairman holds a master's degree in gerontology from Inha University and is a two-term council member who served in the 8th and 9th Namdong District Councils. He has been recognized for his extensive practical experience in legislative affairs, having served as the chair of the 8th Council's Operations Committee and as the chair of the 9th Council's first half. He has also been actively involved in various social activities, including serving as the Incheon representative of the Democratic Party's Women Local Councilors Association and as a prevention committee member of the Korean Crime Prevention Movement Headquarters.
The Namdong District 4th Electoral District (Guwol 2-dong, Ganseok 2 and 3-dong) where the chairman has thrown his hat in the ring is currently represented by Shin Dong-seob, a member of the People Power Party.
