Kim Jin-gu, Michuhol District Council Member: "Why is the Park Development in Hakik Block 1 Delayed... Residents' Complaints Are Flooding In"

As large-scale occupancy continues in the Yonghyeon and Hakik districts of Incheon Michuhol, concerns have been raised about the delays in park development, which is a crucial infrastructure, leading to increased inconvenience for residents.

On the 29th, during the 293rd temporary session of the Welfare and Construction Committee, Michuhol District Council Member Kim Jin-gu (Democratic Party, Yonghyeon 5, Hakik 1, Gwangkyo, Munhak) focused on the issue of delays in park development for the Hakik Block 1 urban development project and urged for prompt measures to be taken.

Member Kim criticized, "It has been over a year since the occupancy of complexes 1, 3, and 4 in Hakik Block 1 began, but there has been no progress in park formation. Residents are flooding in complaints that the construction company is delaying the development citing business viability as a reason." He emphasized, "While road openings are important, securing recreational spaces for residents is urgent."

In response, a district official stated, "We are currently prioritizing urgent infrastructure such as roads and will negotiate to complete the park development by the end of next year."

Questions regarding the long-awaited undergrounding project in Yonghyeon 5 also followed. Member Kim mentioned the issue of 'contaminated soil discovery,' which was the cause of the construction halt, and checked the current situation. The district stated, "Oil-contaminated soil was discovered, which required time for precise analysis and preparation of treatment plans," and added, "Since it has been decided to treat it as general waste, we will resume construction simultaneously with the thawing period and complete the paving as soon as possible."

Regarding the development of Yonghyeon and Hakik Block 2-2, Member Kim referred to the previously discussed donation site of approximately 590 pyeong and suggested, "We should consider utilizing this site for the relocation of the district administrative welfare center and the construction of public facilities."

Additionally, Member Kim pointed out various issues closely related to residents' daily lives, including the installation of continuous drainage channels in areas prone to flooding near Inha University Station and Munhak Sports Stadium, regular dredging to prevent odors and pests in the stream near the Yonghyeon 5 dormitory, and the maintenance of indiscriminately installed bollards in front of the health center.

In particular, Member Kim did not forget to point out the readability of the council's work report materials, stating, "Symbols or colors should be clearly marked to help both council members and residents understand parks or public facility sites at a glance."
