Kim Jin-gu, Councillor of Michuhol District, "Post-management of Women's Safe Return Paths is 'Failing'... Is Installation Enough?"

Kim Jin-gu, a councillor from the Michuhol District Council (Democratic Party, Yonghyeon 5, Hakik 1, Gwangkyo, Munhak), strongly criticized the poor post-management of facilities under the district's representative safety project, 'Women-Friendly City', and urged a comprehensive investigation.

During the welfare and construction committee's report at the 293rd Michuhol District Council's temporary meeting held on the 28th, Councillor Kim pointed out the management status of the installed safe return path facilities in the district. He stated, "Upon checking the site, the old logo lights (ground lights) have lost their function as the letters are no longer visible, leaving only a round light," and criticized that "the CCTV has also deteriorated to the point where proper monitoring is impossible."

In particular, mentioning the case near Seunghak Elementary School in Gwangkyo-dong, he said, "The lack of post-management is damaging the urban landscape and merely wasting the budget," and emphasized, "We should not be solely focused on installation results, but rather immediately replace or maintain old facilities through a comprehensive investigation."

In response, a district official stated, "We plan to repair the old Byeolbit Alley (No. 1) using resident participation budgets, and we will proceed with maintenance sequentially through budget acquisition."

Councillor Kim then requested meticulous administration regarding the leaks and repair work of the district office's workplace childcare centre under the childcare policy. He confirmed the safety of the rental school bus that will operate during the construction period, while stating, "During my site visit last year, the deterioration of facilities over ten years old, such as the bathroom faucets, was serious," and urged, "Do not stop at merely blocking leaks; please thoroughly maintain all internal facilities used by the children during this opportunity."

Councillor Kim added, "As the budget carried over and this year's new budget are combined for implementation, thorough supervision is necessary to prevent any infringement of the learning rights or safety accidents of infants during the construction period."
