Councillor Yang Jeong-hee of Michuhol District: "No resident should miss out on welfare benefits due to lack of information... Strengthen 'outreach promotion'"

Councillor Yang Jeong-hee of Michuhol District (People Power Party, Juan 1·2·3·4·7·8) urged the district to actively prepare promotional measures to ensure that welfare beneficiaries are not excluded from benefits due to lack of information.

During the 293rd extraordinary session of the Michuhol District Council's Welfare and Construction Committee held on the 28th, Councillor Yang focused on assessing the utilisation of the welfare benefit guide, 'Michuhol District True Bargain'. Councillor Yang pointed out that "simply placing booklets at the district administrative welfare centres or welfare centres is insufficient," stating that "there are many cases where beneficiaries in desperate need of benefits do not even know how to use the food market."

In particular, for elderly beneficiaries, she noted that "even if they receive guidance, they tend to forget quickly," and called for the exploration of practical promotional measures that can be directly delivered to the target audience or repeatedly announced, moving away from the passive method of simply placing booklets.

Councillor Yang then continued with sharp questions regarding the 'Integrated Medical, Nursing, and Care Support Project' that will be implemented nationwide from March 27. She confirmed that the service is focused on 'home care' to help elderly individuals who are at the pre-admission stage to nursing homes continue to live in their own homes, and urged close cooperation with service-linked organisations.

Councillor Yang emphasised, "As the personalised benefits from home visiting services to hospital accompaniment are intricately intertwined, it is essential to minimise confusion in the initial implementation phase," and requested that the elderly and disabled welfare department take the lead to ensure that beneficiaries receive assistance down to the smallest details.

A district official responded, "We will strengthen guidance when designating new beneficiaries and ensure that the integrated care service operates organically within the community by managing relevant organisations diligently."
