Yoo Jeong-ok, a councillor from Bupyeong District (People's Power·Bupyeong 3-dong, Sangok 3·4-dong, Sipjeong 1·2-dong), urged the Council Secretariat to provide meticulous administrative support and practical training for new councillors ahead of the opening of the 10th Assembly.
During the major work report for the first half of 2026 held on the 27th of last month, Councillor Yoo focused on the preparations for the 10th Bupyeong District Council, which will launch in July this year. She emphasised that "the biggest change for the council this year is welcoming the new 10th Assembly," highlighting the role of the administrative team responsible for practical matters.
Councillor Yoo particularly requested consideration for new councillors during the orientation process for elected officials. She stated, "For new councillors, the terminology of legislative activities and the council environment itself can be unfamiliar and awkward," and pointed out that "rather than providing the same training as existing councillors, more practical guidance and training programmes should be established to help those entering the council for the first time adapt quickly."
In response, Hong Ji-hoon, the head of the administrative team, said, "We will systematically organise and prepare the legal obligations and team-specific guidance that elected officials must know during the orientation scheduled for June."
Councillor Yoo concluded by saying, "An environment must be created where new councillors can focus on their legislative activities to contribute to the residents and local development," and urged the Council Secretariat to ensure that each team faithfully carries out its unique duties to present an improved image of the council.
