Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok) announced that it participated in the 「2026 15th New Year Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Spatial Information」 held in Jeju from January 29 to 31, sharing the future vision of 'Spatial Intelligence AI-City Incheon' and laying the groundwork for strengthening policy cooperation networks.
This academic conference is a representative domestic event where experts from the central government, local governments, academia, and industry gather to discuss national spatial information policies and the direction of industrial development.
On the second day of the conference, January 30, Incheon City presented on the topic of 「Establishment of the Comprehensive Plan for Spatial Information Policy of Incheon Metropolitan City (2026~2030)」 during Policy Session I. The presentation introduced the mid-to-long-term policy direction and implementation strategies for intelligently connecting and optimizing all urban sectors, including urban planning, transportation, disaster management, environment, safety, and facility management, using digital twin-based urban operations, AI-based spatial computing, and data-driven problem-solving systems.
This session was conducted as an official session sharing national and regional spatial information policies in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the National Geographic Information Institute, and Seoul City, making it significant as Incheon City presented a future vision linked to national policies as a leading case. After the presentation, a Q&A and discussion followed with representatives from academia, research institutions, and private companies, forming a consensus on the need for policy development directions and inter-agency cooperation.
Incheon City confirmed the possibility of establishing practical cooperation networks beyond policy exchanges, including joint research, technological cooperation, and linkage of demonstration projects through this academic conference.
Seo Jeong-ha, head of the Land Information Division of Incheon City, stated, "The New Year Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Spatial Information is an authoritative stage leading the flow of spatial information policies and technologies in South Korea," and added, "We will actively participate in policy sharing platforms to expand cooperation networks and continuously develop spatial information policies to realise 'Spatial Intelligence AI-City, Incheon' that enhances citizen happiness and urban value."
